"Healthways began engaging with DeskActive in June 2010 in an effort to identify a resource that would provide our Colleagues, who’s primary job is stationary, an opportunity to exercise while at the desk. While we tried our own home grown stretching videos, we found that our Colleagues needed more. When the DeskActive team approached Healthways, we were thrilled to learn about their dynamic product which includes avatars who lead participants in stretching at your desk exercises. But, it didn’t just stop there. Healthy tips are also shared that pop up throughout the day, which is another added value that supports our Colleagues.
"Several of our DeskActive users have commented on feeling better at the end of the day (mentally and physically) due to utilizing the DeskActive software. The software encourages them to move at their desk more and therefore at the end of the day, they are feeling less tension in their necks, backs and various muscles. What does Healthways get out of this one might ask? One thing is that our Colleagues feel better, which in return, makes us as an employer feel better too. Secondly, if our Colleagues feel better during the day and at the end of the day, they are less likely to miss work and be more productive while at work. Thirdly, it allows our Colleagues to practice what they are teaching our members, to live healthier lifestyles. Since implementing DeskActive at one site after a pilot period, there are now several Healthways locations who are now utilizing DeskActive and much like our site, are seeing positive results.
